These Terms govern your use of the Crabitat mobile application, published by Ali3N Studios LLC. By installing or using Crabitat you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
This page reproduces, without alteration, the Terms shown inside the app under Settings and on the purchase screen.
1. Crabitat is a reference, not a veterinarian
Crabitat presents hermit crab care information drawn from documents shared within a hermit crab keeping community, restated in our own words with the source named on each screen. It is a reference and a record-keeping tool.
It is not veterinary advice and it is not a substitute for an experienced keeper or an exotics vet. Hermit crab care is an area where sources genuinely disagree, and where a confident wrong answer can kill an animal. Where our sources differ, the app shows you that they differ rather than choosing for you.
You are responsible for the animals in your care. Decisions you make about them are yours.
2. Emergency content
The emergency section is provided free, without an account, and works offline. It is general guidance written for a difficult moment. It is not a diagnosis and it cannot see your tank.
If an animal is in immediate distress and you have access to an exotics veterinarian or an experienced keeper, contact them. Crabitat is not a replacement for either.
3. What Crabitat Pro is
Crabitat Pro is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. There is no recurring charge and nothing renews.
Pro unlocks unlimited tanks and crabs, full log history with graphs, shared care, saved food mixes, the feeding calendar, data export, and additional reminders.
The entire care reference, every emergency page, all four calculators, the setup checklist and logging for one tank with up to three crabs are free permanently, and there are no advertisements anywhere in the app in any tier.
4. Purchases and refunds
Purchases are processed by Google Play. Refunds are handled under Google Play’s refund policy and we do not process them ourselves.
Entitlement is checked against our payment provider. If we cannot reach it — because you are offline, for example — the app keeps whatever access it last confirmed rather than removing it.
5. Your content
Your tanks, crabs, logs, notes and photos are yours. We claim no ownership of them.
If you invite somebody to help care for a tank, they can see that tank’s records and add to them while their access lasts. Entries record who made them.
You can export everything as a file, and you can delete everything, from within the app.
6. Acceptable use
Do not use Crabitat to store content that is unlawful, or to harass anyone through the shared care feature. Do not attempt to access tanks you have not been invited to.
We may withdraw access to the sync and shared care features from an account being used to do either of those things. It does not affect the app working on your own device.
7. Content sources and copyright
The care information in Crabitat derives from documents shared within a hermit crab keeping community, some of which are copyrighted by their authors. No source document is reproduced. Facts are restated in Crabitat’s own words and each screen names the document it came from.
If you are the author of a source document and want your attribution changed or your material removed, write to us and we will act on it.
8. No warranty, and the limit of our liability
Crabitat is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. We do not warrant that the care information is complete or correct for your animals, your tank or your climate.
To the fullest extent the law allows, Ali3N Studios LLC is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the app. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Where our total liability can be limited, it is limited to the amount you paid for the app.
9. Age
Crabitat is rated for ages 13 and over. It is written to be readable by younger keepers and contains nothing unsuitable for them, but it is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
If you are under 13, ask a parent or guardian to set up any account.
10. Changes
We may update these Terms. The in-app copy and this page are generated from the same source and are always identical. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it.
